Kevin McKinney - Treasurer

Kevin was born and raised in Odessa, Texas. He grew up in east Dallas and graduated from Skyline HS. He played and lettered every year at Skyline and was the captain of the baseball team. He led his BBI Mickey Mantle team to the world series eventually losing to Puerto Rico.

Kevin attended North Texas State University intent on being the first college graduate in his family. He successfully graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1982 while playing baseball for 4 years and working to put himself through college. He played baseball for NTSU for 4 years. The baseball program was then a club sport playing against D-1 teams across the SW. At this time, Hayden Fry was the Head Coach for Football. He along with AD, Andy McCain tried unsuccessfully to join the SWC. Baseball was to be added if we were accepted into the SWC. Sadly, NTSU was denied access to SWC and the vision for NTSU to add D-1 baseball ended and Hayden left for Iowa.

After graduating from NTSU, he married Sherri McKinney, who he met in his first semester on campus in 1977. They have been married for 40 years and have two beautiful and athletic daughters along with two granddaughters.

Kevin has coached in youth sports and he has served in many roles for board of directors for Denton CC, Argyle ISD, Argyle Booster Clubs and the DCC Men’s Golf Association. He recently retired after selling his company, McKinney Agency, a manufacturer’s representative agent. Today he spends his time playing golf, volunteering for Our Daily Bread, gardening and traveling. This project is close to his heart. He has wanted D-1 baseball at UNT for 40 years.
